Firebird Ironwork was founded in early 2008 when Odile Raoport decided to draw on three years' valuable experience gained from working in a shared Blacksmiths' workshop and set up her own forge near Shoreham, West Sussex.
Odile specialises in functional, decorative metalwork for both interior and exterior settings. She uses a diverse range of techniques to create striking, unique pieces, predominantly in steel but also incorporating glass, copper, brass, wood and found objects.
Whilst Odile is passionate about the traditional elements of the blacksmith's craft, much of her work is infused with a contemporary feel. She takes inspiration largely from forms within the natural world.
